we were explorers

artists,

inventors,

full of wonder

full of color and life

we abandoned caution

in a quest for the unknown

we surrendered our dreams

shadows of who we once were

we stopped exploring

we grew older and efficient

our hands ever busy

our imagination lulled to sleep
